In-Class AssignmentMeet in biology lab, room 125
Discuss Focus Questions/FQQ Introduction to Biotechnology Lab Procedures |
Biotechnology
|
No new readings; labs are based on the lab manual but we will follow slightly modified protocols (to be provided in lab). You may wish to read the following labs in the lab manual for background information:
AP Lab #8: Bacterial Transformation AP Lab #9: Restriction Enzyme Analysis of DNA |
Tuesday, 3/4 - Friday, 3/7
|
We will conduct the restriction enzyme analysis first (Tuesday and Wednesday), followed by the bacterial transformation lab (Thursday and Friday).
Lab will be assessed through a mini-poster due Wednesday, March 19. You only need to make one poster and may choose which lab you feel more comfortable explaining. If you missed a portion of the lab or would like an overview of the procedures (including the reasoning behind them), check out the excellent simulation by Pearson LabBench. |
Reminder: the unit 7 test over molecular inheritance will be on Tuesday, March 11.
